Nautical Nonsense - 15#

Picture
Built for Orlando Maker Faire 2019 - Nautical Nonsense is a 15lb wedge-bot designed to take every hit our opponent can dish out.  The robot is made out of .1875" AR500 and .1875" 6061 aluminum laser cut by oshcut.com.  Two 775 motors geared 16:1 power the drive train with 4" wheels which puts the top speed near 13mph.

The original render and paint scheme for Nautical Nonsense.
The parts all showed up in the mail on the same day. First order of business was laying out the pieces on the dining table to see how it fits.
The major frame pieces have been bolted to the baseplate with NutStrips. Now to attach the wedge and top panel.
The wedge, top panel, and spikes all fit!
The gearboxes have been mounted and the first test driving will be happening soon.
It is a tight fit in there! The original motors were supposed to be much shorter, but I made the robot wide enough as a contingency plan in case we couldn't get the brushless drive working.
Behind the wedge: everything is fairly compressed together when the wedge is bolted on. Taking out the batteries to charge is very easy though with 4 screws being removed.

First test drive two weeks before Robot Ruckus at Orlando Maker Faire.
